Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the final of 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) in Chennai.
Kolkata bowled out Hyderabad for the lowest total in an IPL final, a mere 113, with Australia's left-arm quick Starc returning figures of 2-14.
Starc ended the IPL with two outstanding performances, including a match-winning 3-34 in the first Qualifier against the same opponents.
Kolkata's batters faced little difficulty, and despite the early departure of Sunil Narine, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who scored 39, and Venkatesh Iyer, unbeaten on 52, guided the team home with 9.3 overs to spare after a partnership of 91.
Left-handed batter Iyer reached his 50 in 24 balls and hit the winning runs to trigger celebrations for Kolkata.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer remained undefeated on six.
It marked Kolkata's second title victory at the venue, following their initial triumph in 2012.
Earlier, Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first, relying on his team's strength in scoring high, after achieving IPL record totals of 277 and 287 in this year's edition.
However, Starc stole the spotlight by claiming a wicket in his first over, dismissing the in-form Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma for two with a delivery that pitched in the middle and clipped the top of off stump.
Travis Head followed suit, departing for his second duck in three matches, caught behind off fast bowler Vaibhav Arora.
Starc struck once more, leaving the opposition's top-order in disarray at 47-4 within seven overs.
Andre Russell dismissed Aiden Markram for 20, and wickets continued to fall as fellow South African Heinrich Klaasen was out for 16.
Cummins, who was dropped on 10 by Starc, guided the team past 100 before being dismissed for 24 by Russell, who finished with figures of 3-19.
